Turkey Roll Ups with Herb Cream Cheese

Turkey roll ups are quick, versatile bites made by spreading a flavorful herb cream cheese over thin slices of turkey, then rolling them into compact cylinders. Searing them to a golden crisp and baking briefly ensures a warm, slightly crispy exterior with a juicy, herb-infused interior, perfect for snacks, lunches, or light dinners. Their appealing appearance and tender texture make them a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 8 slices thin turkey slices preferably cold and slightly chilled
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened for easy spreading
  • 2 tbsp fresh herbs chopped parsley or dill
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tbsp olive oil for searing
  • 1 lemon lemon wedge for extra brightness
  • 4 large lettuce leaves or cucumber slices as alternative wraps

Equipment

  • Sharp Knife
  • Baking dish or oven-safe skillet
  • Small bowl
  • Toothpicks or kitchen twine
  • Tongs or spatula

Method

  1. Lay the turkey slices flat on a cutting board, and if they’re thick, gently pound them to about 1/4-inch thickness for easier rolling.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with chopped herbs, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and fragrant—this creates a bright, herby filling.
  3. Spread a thin layer of the herb cream cheese mixture evenly over each turkey slice, leaving a small border at the edges for sealing.
  4. Tightly roll each turkey slice from one edge into a compact cylinder, then secure with toothpicks or kitchen twine if needed to keep their shape.
  5. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering and fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Add the turkey rolls to the hot skillet and sear for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy on the outside, releasing a savory aroma.
  7. Transfer the skillet to a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) and bake for 8-10 minutes, until the filling is bubbling and the exterior is crisp.
  8. Remove from the oven, let rest for 2 minutes, then carefully remove toothpicks or twine.
  9. Slice each roll into 1-inch medallions for a beautiful presentation, and squeeze a little lemon juice over for extra brightness.
  10. Arrange on a plate and serve immediately, garnished with extra herbs or lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

Chill the turkey slices before rolling for easier handling, and feel free to customize the herbs or fillings for variety. These roll ups can be assembled a day ahead and reheated gently in the oven before serving.
