Ingredients

  • 12 ounces pasta (spaghetti or linguine)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt to taste for pasta water and seasoning

Equipment

  • Large pot for boiling pasta
  • Frying pan or skillet
  • Slotted Spoon or Tongs
  • Measuring spoons

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, then add the pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. While the pasta cooks, melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat until it begins to foam and turn a light golden color, releasing a rich aroma.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook, stirring constantly, until fragrant and golden-brown, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Dump the drained pasta directly into the skillet with the garlic butter, tossing gently to coat each strand evenly in the flavorful mixture.
  5. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste, then toss again to distribute the seasoning.
  6. Cook for another minute, allowing the pasta to absorb some of the sauce and the flavors to meld, until the mixture is glossy and fragrant.
  7. Remove from heat and transfer the garlic butter pasta to plates or bowls.
  8. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top if desired, adding a salty, creamy finishing touch.
  9. Serve immediately, enjoying the tender pasta coated in a fragrant, buttery garlic sauce with a slight crispness from the toasted garlic.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a squeeze of lemon or some chopped fresh parsley before serving.
