Ingredients

  • 4 fillets salmon fillets preferably skinless
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise full-fat for best texture
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 teaspoon dried herbs such as dill, parsley, or thyme
  • to taste salt and pepper for seasoning

Equipment

  • Baking sheet or oven-proof dish
  • Brush or spoon for spreading

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the salmon fillets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a lightly greased dish, skin-side down if applicable.
  2. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon juice, dried herbs, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix until smooth and well blended.
  3. Use a spoon or brush to evenly spread the mayonnaise mixture over the top of each salmon fillet, covering the surface completely to form a thick layer.
  4. Place the prepared salmon into the preheated oven and bake for about 15-20 minutes, or until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. The mayonnaise topping will turn golden and slightly crispy on top.
  5. Remove the salmon from the oven and let it rest for a couple of minutes. The exterior should be crispy and golden, contrasting with the tender, flaky fish inside.
  6. Serve the baked salmon hot, garnished with fresh herbs or lemon wedges if desired. The crust adds both flavor and texture, making each bite rich and satisfying.
