Ingredients

  • 2 pieces hot dogs preferably frankfurters
  • 4 slices bread slices white bread or sandwich bread
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend
  • 1 tablespoon butter melted, for brushing

Equipment

  • Air fryer
  • Toothpick or skewer

Method

  1. Start by wrapping each hot dog with a slice of bread, pressing gently so the bread covers most of the sausage.
  2. Sprinkle shredded cheese generously over the bread-wrapped hot dogs, ensuring the cheese is evenly distributed for maximum melty goodness.
  3. Fold the bread edges inward slightly to secure the cheese and form a compact package around each hot dog.
  4. Use a toothpick or skewer to hold the packages together, preventing them from opening during cooking.
  5. Preheat the air fryer to 390°F (200°C) and brush the outside of each package with melted butter for a golden, crispy finish.
  6. Place the packages into the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they do not touch to promote even crisping.
  7. Cook for about 6–8 minutes until the bread is toasted golden brown, the cheese is bubbling, and the hot dogs are heated through.
  8. Carefully remove the packages from the air fryer, discard toothpicks or skewers, and let cool for a minute before serving.
  9. Serve hot, optionally garnished with additional cheese, ketchup, mustard, or your favorite toppings for extra flavor.

Notes

For a crispier exterior, you can brush the packages with additional butter before cooking. Use toothpicks or skewers to prevent the cheese from leaking out during air frying. Remove toothpicks carefully before serving.
